THE PERFORMANCE SOLUTION: PART 1

This 16-module course provides all that is required to ensure new TPM users attain proficiency in testing and successful retraining of their clients to achieve and maintain long-term Movement Health.  The course supplies the insights on testing, report reading, and retraining, that helps practitioners deliver the TPM system with confidence. The course is included in most versions of TPM and you can also buy it both on its own and as an addition to your existing TPM package.

MOVEMENT HEALTH AND UNDERPINNING PRINCIPLES

The course initially explores the concept of Movement Health and considers how this framework supports clients’ long-term goal achievement. Having established a theoretical basis for the testing and retraining approach of TPM, the course explores the underpinning principles supporting cognitive movement control testing. Additionally, a muscle classification model is presented that acts as a tool to address the complexity associated to muscle synergists and how they can be associated to injury risk and performance deficits.

TESTING AND READING REPORTS

The course provides a detailed introduction to the application of both low and high threshold cognitive movement control tests, explicitly examining the sites and directions of uncontrolled movement/loss of movement choices. Following the exploration of testing, the course places focus on the ability to interpret the low and high threshold report produced by the system. This process of matching sites and directions to clients’ goals is invaluable in the overall success of the TPM Pro approach.

RETRAINING: MANY WAYS TO CHANGE MOVEMENT HEALTH

The course initially explores the concept of Movement Health and considers how this framework supports clients’ long-term goal achievement. Having established a theoretical basis for the testing and retraining approach of TPM, the course explores the underpinning principles supporting cognitive movement control testing. Additionally, a muscle classification model is presented that acts as a tool to address the complexity associated to muscle synergists and how they can be associated to injury risk and performance deficits.

BUSINESS INTEGRATION AND EXPRESS INSIGHTS

Supporting the technical components of the TPM Pro system, we have devoted a section of the course to what we describe as ‘The Business of Movement’. This module supplies support on the successful application of the TPM approach within a clinic or performance centre. Additionally, we have added a further section exploring the use of TPM Express; this is a collection of short matrices that can be implemented within 30-minute appointments or can support remote testing and retraining sessions.

The student journey is supported throughout by learning checks that aim to help embed the knowledge of the course into real life application with clients. Sessions range from between 30-90 minutes in duration and the typical course completion time is approximately three weeks.
